In most cases the ignitor will stop being energized when the flame switch senses that the ignitor is hot enough to light the gas, and redirects eliertccity through the coils on the gas valve to open and release gas. At that point the ignitor will sometimes still glow some because it is in the flame, but it technically is off until the burner cycles on again. Sounds like you have an airflow problem, or the hi-limit thermostat may be weak… But probably air block of some kind.
